PROS

  1. Exceptional Camera Hardware: Features an f/1.8 aperture lens, which was the fastest on a smartphone at the time, significantly improving low-light performance.
  2. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS): The 13MP rear camera includes OIS to help capture clearer photos and stable videos.
  3. 4K Video Recording: Capable of recording video in 4K resolution (2160p at 30fps), which was a highly advanced feature for a 2014 smartphone.
  4. Dedicated Camera Button: Includes a two-stage physical camera shutter button (half-press to focus, full-press to shoot).
  5. High-Quality Audio: Equipped with a dedicated ESS Sabre ES9018 DAC for enhanced, high-fidelity audio output.
  6. Powerful Processor (for its time): The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor offered fast performance for gaming and multitasking in 2014.
  7. Good Front Camera with Flash: Features an 8MP front camera with its own LED flash, great for selfies and video calls even in low light.
  8. Full HD Display: The 5.2-inch IPS LCD display offers a sharp 1080p resolution (~424 PPI) with good color reproduction.
  9. Expandable Storage: Includes a dedicated microSD card slot, allowing for storage expansion up to 128GB.
  10. Premium In-box Accessories: Came bundled with a plastic case and premium quality earphones.

CONS

  1. Outdated Operating System: Runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or 4.4.2 (KitKat), which is extremely old and lacks modern app compatibility and security support.
  2. Limited RAM/Storage (Base Model): The base model only had 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which was quickly limiting even then.
  3. No 4G/LTE in all regions: While it supported some 4G bands, international availability and full 4G compatibility was limited in certain markets.
  4. Battery Life was Average: The 2600mAh battery provided moderate usage time and was not a standout feature.
  5. Overheating with Heavy Use: The phone could become warm during prolonged heavy use, such as 4K video recording or long gaming sessions.
  6. Availability Issues: The phone was primarily targeted at the Chinese market with no confirmed international availability plans at launch.
  7. High Price Point at Launch: It was considered expensive compared to other competitors with similar specifications in the market at the time.
  8. Non-Removable Battery: Despite being old, the battery was non-removable in its slim design.
  9. Bulky for its Screen Size (Compared to peers): At 8mm thickness and 148g weight, it was not the slimmest or lightest phone relative to its 5.2-inch screen in a market moving toward slimmer bezels.
  10. No FM Radio: The device did not include an FM radio feature, unlike some other budget phones from the same era.
